WHY THIS EXISTS

Most of Ghana's economy doesn't live at a street address — it lives at a landmark.

Ask for directions in Accra and you won't hear a postcode. You'll hear "opposite the Goil station," or "the yam seller near the junction," or "ask for Auntie Ama's stall." That's not a workaround — it's how the city actually navigates, and it's exactly what AfriHex's landmark layer is built to understand.

The gap was informal businesses with no building to attach a landmark to. A market stall has no OSM footprint. A kiosk isn't in any registry. Until now, the only way onto the map was to wait for enough strangers to walk past and hope our passive discovery pipeline noticed. Add Your Business skips the waiting — you tell us directly.

HOW IT WORKS

Three steps, one review, done.

01 — Submit

Tell us where you are

Name, kind of business, and a location — a hex code, an AfriHex code, or just drop a pin. Phone number is optional, for follow-up only.

02 — Review

A person checks it

Your submission joins the same queue as landmarks our system discovers automatically — nothing goes live without a human confirming it first.

03 — Live

Findable, for real

Once approved, you're a real landmark — searchable, routable, and part of what shows up when someone nearby asks what's around here.

WHAT COUNTS

If it has a name and a spot, it qualifies.

No footprint, no problem. Once approved, a submitted point is buffered into a small footprint of its own — the same shape our building-derived landmarks carry — so a kiosk with no polygon anywhere on Earth still snaps, routes, and narrates exactly like one that does.

WHY WE REVIEW INSTEAD OF PUBLISHING INSTANTLY

A landmark that turns out to be wrong is worse than no landmark at all — it sends someone to the wrong side of a junction. So every submission gets looked at by a person before it's searchable, same discipline as the landmarks our system finds on its own.

Automatic discovery already holds itself to a higher bar than most maps ever bother with: a place only becomes a candidate after five different people's phones have actually been there in the last month. Self-submission trades that waiting period for a direct human check — not a lower one.
