Privacy Policy
Last updated 19 October 2026. Covers the AfriHex website (maps.afrihex.com) and the AfriHex Android app.
The short version
AfriHex helps people find places in Ghana. To do that we use locations: yours when you allow it, and the addresses you choose to share. We don't sell your data and we don't show ads.
What we collect and why
Your location, when you allow it. Used to show the code for where you are, plan routes, guide you turn by turn and, if you start one, share your live position in a Meet Me session. You can turn location off in your browser or phone settings at any time. Some features then won't work.
Addresses you create. The pin, name, label, landmark, delivery notes, entrances and (if you add it) a phone number. A public address can be seen by anyone with its link, and its name, notes and a map of the spot appear in link previews (for example on WhatsApp). A private address can only be opened with a guest link you issue, and you can revoke those.
Trips. When you navigate, we record the start, destination, where the trip ended and how long it took, and your answer if you reply to the question on arrival. We use this to improve routes and arrival times.
Road reports. If you report a hazard, we store its type and location and show it to other drivers.
Your account, if you make one. Your email address, or your Google sign-in, and passkeys you register. Signed-in users also have their recent searches saved so they can find them again.
Payments. Paid plans are processed by Paystack. We never see or store your card or mobile money PIN.
Usage and errors (website only). On maps.afrihex.com we count page visits and actions (like "shared an address") with Google Analytics and Umami, and collect crash reports with Sentry. Pages that identify a person, such as address and Meet Me links, are reported as a generic page name, never the address itself. The Android app contains no analytics or crash-reporting tools.
On your device. Addresses you save for offline use, recent lookups and downloaded maps stay in your browser or phone storage until you remove them.
Who else receives data
We share only what each service needs to do its job:
- Geoapify: the coordinates of a public address, to draw its link-preview map.
- Google: analytics on the website, Google sign-in if you use it, and Google Maps when you tap "Open in Google Maps".
- Paystack: payment details for paid plans.
- Sentry and Umami: crash reports and anonymous usage counts from the website.
- OpenStreetMap and Esri: map tiles in the Android app. Like any website, these servers see your IP address and the map area requested.
- WhatsApp or the app you share with: whatever message you choose to send.
We may also disclose data if Ghanaian law requires it.
Keeping and deleting your data
An address stays until it's deleted. If you made it on the website, its page has a Delete button in the browser you made it in, and you can recover editing access from that page. If you made it in the Android app, email us its handle (for example @kofisneakers) and we'll delete it. Trip records and road reports are kept to improve routing.
To delete your account, or any data linked to you, email us at yeboahd24@gmail.com. We'll reply within 30 days.
Children
AfriHex isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
Changes and contact
